About Coach Bondarchuk

Today, I thought I would introduce everyone to my coach. Since August 2005, I have been training under the guidance of Dr. Anatoli Bondarchuk. Currently, Dr. B works for the Kamloops Track and Field Club in Kamloops, British Columbia. I met Dr. B through my friend and current training partner Dylan Amstrong. I was already familiar with Dr. B as he is universally regarded as the most best and most successful hammer throw coach in the world. Representing the Soviet Union in the hammer throw, Dr. B won the gold medal in 1972 and was also a world record holder. After his athletic career ended, Dr. B served as the national coach for the Soviet Union for nearly twenty years, in the process coaching numerous world record holders and twelve Olympic medalists in the hammer throw. After the fall of the Soviet Union, Dr. B served as a national coach in Portugal and Kuwait. His current position allows him to be close to his daughter and grandchildren currently residing in Calgary.

I have complete faith in Dr. B’s coaching ability. Dr. B has taken many athletes to Olympics, and the progress I have made under him leads me to believe that I will also qualify. The only hard part is that he currently lives five hours away from me and I am only able to visit him one or two weekends each month. This, however, will change since I will likely to move to Kamloops for a short period after graduating from law school next June.

    Dear Martin,

My name is Michel Leinders. My residence is Brunssum, The Netherlands. I’m going to be 50 years old in March 2012 and I’m a throwing master atlete. I will compete in Finland 2012 on the World Master Atletics Championships. I would like to improve in hammer throw. The Dutch Record is 60,12 meters (6 kilo)and I would like to throw that within 2 years from now. My actual distance is about 55 meters.
I would like to contact mr. Bondarchuk for some training advice, he seems to be your coach as I red on your site. Is it possible that I can contact him by mail? Perhaps you can ask him if it’s alright that I can get his email address from you?

    like to hear from you.

    Best regards,

    Michel Leinders.

I lead two lives: during the day you’ll find me in my suit and tie as an international tax attorney, but after work I’m training hard as the Swiss national hammer throw champion. Follow me as I work towards the 2012 Olympics and explore this site to learn more about the hammer throw and my various pursuits. Also consider donating to the Evergreen Athletic Fund, a non-profit organization I’ve founded.
