Arrival in Kamloops
Published on 4 September 2008 in Training Updates
After three seasons of traveling back and forth monthly between Seattle and Kamloops, I have finally moved to Kamloops. Now that I have finished school, I am able to start a new chapter in my life where I can temporarily focus on my athletic goals. As most of you know, the reason I chose to move to Kamloops is because of the world renowned resident coach Anatoli Bondarchuk. With a full-time coach, more time to train, and a better support network, I hope to make some big gains this season. As usual, I will keep you all updated.
In addition to my arrival, we will also have three new athletes joining us this fall. Kibwe Johnson and Crystal Smith arrived this week. Crystal is the former Canadian record holder in the women’s hammer and has a personal best of 68.60m (225’1″). Kibwe made the 2007 World Championships for America and has a personal best of 78.25m (256’8″) in the hammer and 65.11m (213’7″) in the discus. Joining us shortly will also be former NCAA Champion, NCAA Record Holder and South American record holder Jenny Dahlgren. Her best throw 72.94m (239-4). In addition, we have a slew of great throwers currently here and that makes training all the more fun and competitive.
