What I’ve Been Writing
Published on 21 October 2009 in Life Updates
The Fall rain has arrived in Kamloops, and with it a slew of mud. I’ve been spending more time up in Kamloops this Fall to focus on training, and being in Kamloops always leaves me with free time. That time is spent at home when the weather is as it has been. Like last fall, I’ve spent a lot of that time writing. Here are a few of the projects I’ve been working on or will be working on this Fall. As always, I will post links (when possible) to the finished version of everything.
Keywords: Articles, TaxLegal Articles
- I just finished two law-related articles. One was for the Washington State Bar Association Tax Section and analyzed an important decision in a recent tax case. The second was a profile on this year’s winner of the Washington State Bar Association’s Outstanding Young Lawyer Award for the Association’s De Novo publication, edited by my good friend Jamila Johnson.
- My current big project is to finish rewriting a chapter for a treatise on tax litigation.
Track and Field Articles
- I was asked by a magazine to write a series on coaching beginning hammer throwers. I won’t start this until next month, but it will likely cover teaching hammer throw technique, basic concepts in hammer throw technique, and basic strength training.
- I was also invited to give a 30-minute talk to the Bellevue Overlake Rotary Club on November 11th on behalf of the Evergreen Athletic Fund. I have really grown to enjoy public speaking over the past year and writing a good speech for this event has been a fun and exciting challenge for me.
- Time permitting, I will also be writing an article for the Long and Strong Thrower’s Journal early next year on how the new IAAF Diamond League plans to exclude the hammer throw (a topic I wrote about here last month).
