Rotary Club Speech
Published on 14 November 2009 in Training UpdatesThe speech itself went very well. I was greeted with a thoughtful audience with insightful questions. To the best of my memory, this was one of my first times speaking in front of a group that was not comprised of classmates, colleagues, teammates, or family. But that didn’t seem matter because I felt extremely comfortable in front of the welcoming audience and was able to get quite a few laughs. It was a fun experience and one I hope to replicate soon in front of other organizations. If you know of any organizations that are looking for a speaker, please contact me. A copy of my speech can also be viewed here.
In other news, Kamloops received its first dusting of snow Friday afternoon. The first snow of the year is always fun to throw in. I never end up throwing well, but it is nevertheless peaceful. My roommate and training partner Sultana Frizell is also visiting Vancouver for the weekend to accept the F.N.A. Rowell Trophy, Athletics Canada’s award for the top field event athlete in the country. It is great to see Sultana recognized for all that she has accomplished this season. She not only broke her own national record this year and also was a finalist at the World Championships in Berlin. Congratulations Sultana!
